Richmond Hill advances

By Savannah Morning News 11/17/2019, 4:15pm EST

Running back Jalen Rouse ran for 194 yards and three scores as Richmond Hill beat the Martin Luther King Lions 28-12 in the first round of the GHSA Class 6A state playoffs Friday night at Wildcat Stadium.

Playing on a soggy field, the Wildcats never trailed and their defense held the Lions to one score. The other Lions score came on a Wildcat fumble that was returned for a touchdown.

The Lions tried twice for two point conversions on their touchdowns but couldn’t convert on either.

Wildcat Ashaud Roberson hauled in a 59-yard pass from Kenyan Hunter to account for the other Wildcat score. Kicker Britton Williams was perfect on four point after attempts but missed a long field goal.

The Wildcat defense spent most of the night in the Lions backfield with Nathan Vickers sacking the Lions quarterback twice while racking up eight total tackles including three for loss.

Avion Smith had seven tackles and one interception.

Jordan Clark had one reception and Brett Kramer had one for 13 yards.

Isiah Allen carried the ball five times for 24 yards and Tyler completed two passes for 51 yards.

The Wildcats advance to the second round and will host Lanier Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
