Host Richmond Hill scored at will in Wildcat Stadium as it cruised to season-opening victory over the Grovetown Warriors. The Wildcat defense allowed the Warriors to cross over midfield only once (late in the fourth quarter) as the Wildcat offense and defense gelled.
The Wildcats (1-0) jumped out to an early lead halfway through the first quarter on a 42-yard pass from Isaiah Allen to wide receiver Jordan Clark.
Britton Williams hit the first of three field goals on the night to up the ’Cats lead to 10-0.
A Jalen Rouse rushing touchdown and second Williams field goal made the halftime score 20-0. Williams hit on kicks of 27, 39 and 21 yards.
Two touchdowns in the third quarter raised the score to 34-0.
Clark finished with three catches for 104 yards.
Rouse tallied 134 rushing yards and the score on 15 carries, while Allen threw two touchdowns on 6-of-8 passing for 120 yards.
